Boston Day #14

We woke up so sad to leave. We spent the morning cleaning up the apartment and packing up our suitcases. We had to check out by 11, but our flight didn't even leave until 5:50! We surely couldn't drag all of our bags around Boston until it was time to go to airport. Thankfully the people who rent out of apartments have a main building that would hold our bags until we went to the airport.
After we dropped our bags we went to lunch and walked around the Prudential Mall. Ate lunch, walked around, and just tried to kill time. The day seemed to just drag on. I think we were all just burnt out and tired.
Finally it was time to go grab our bags and make way to the airport. Our taxi driver was awesome, he played hockey and his son who was Tay's age played as well! It was pretty cool.
By the time we got to the airport we had just enough time to get food and get on the plane. It was a long 6 hour flight, Em was good for the most part but was pretty wiggly at times. To be expected, she's 2! She finally fell asleep during our final decent into LA, Murphy's Law, right?!?! We caught our shuttle and we on our way home. Got home around 11:30. Exhausted and bummed about being back in Cali, but all things must come to an end!
Hope all of you enjoyed reading about my family's Boston adventures:)

I will MISS DD so much!!!

Boston Day #13

Our last full day in Boston. The girls really wanted to go to the aquarium, so today was the day!

Started our day off with a lunch at our favorite burger spot, UBurger. A close 2nd to In n Out:)

Em was super excited when we finally got into the aquarium, the line to buy tickets was quite long, however, the weather was beautiful with a nice cool breeze. Standing in line wasn't that bad. It was a nice place, plenty to see and lots of areas for kiddos to touch and learn things. I think we spent almost 3 hours in there!

How cute are these two!!!

Total Daddy's girl!!

Tay said these jellyfish looked like they were in outer space!

The penguin encounter had all these sprinklers, guess its to keep their exhibit clean. Very smart.

We made our way over to Mike's Pastry afterwards. We ended up getting four things: Chocolate Chip Cannoli, Espresso Cannoli, a Lobster Tail, and a Traditional Cupcake. Took a picture of the box but the contents of the box just went too fast! Before we knew it there was only one treat left:)

We stopped for an early dinner at a place called, The Union Oyster House. It's along the Freedom Trail and has been there since 1826! We ordered clam chowder and looked around at all the old stuff they had in there. It was pretty cool!

Today was bittersweet. We miss home, but are super sad to leave Boston.

Boston Day #12

We decided to take a train out of the city today! Our town of choice was Salem. So much history, we couldn't wait to soak it all in. We took a short subway ride to the commuter train station and arrived a little early. They had a DD in the train station, perfect!! Cory and I got coffees and shared a Big and Toasty. The girls each got some donut holes. All were happy.

We hopped on our train and got comfortable for the 30 minute or so ride to Salem.

Talk about a view on the way up! Tay caught some great pics!

I had no idea how pretty this town was going to be, it was like it was right out of a Nicholas Sparks book! We took a trolley around the town and stopped at all the historical sights. The tour guide we had was so full of Salem knowledge, it was awesome. We walked around afterwards, went in a couple museums, ate lunch, and soaked up the sun. It was beautiful weather out. We came across the first candy store in all of America! We bought Blackjacks, a type of candy that they used to make back then and still do to this day. It was a great day to be out!

As we were walking towards the train to get home, we saw in the distance a huge storm coming. We thought to ourselves, hope this storm waits until we get on the train! Nope, it blew right over us! The worst thunder and lightning I have EVER heard! Rained and was so windy. Thank goodness we were under something or we would've gotten soaked! As soon as we got on the train we took this picture, it was sorta like ahh, we made it, picture:)

Of course as soon as we were pulling away...blue sunny skies! Stopped at a place called, The Fours, by TD Garden for dinner. Def hit the spot!

One of the only ways these days to get through a meal, peacefully. Watching a movie with headphones:)

We are home and all ready for bed. Tomorrow us our last full day in Boston and honestly, I'm really going to miss it. But knowing we will be back is what will get me through!

Boston Day #11

Today, well yesterday, was the first day that there were no alarms, no schedule, no having to wake up early! We all slept in, it was nice. We had an idea of what we were wanting to do but we were in no hurry to do it.

By the time we got up and out of the house it was lunch time. We wanted to take Tay to this place we had been earlier in the week, Flour Bakery. They have great sandwiches and many different tasty treats. Last time Cory and I had a sticky bun, this time we had our eyes and tummies set for their Boston Cream Pie!

It was soooo good! We all got sandwiches, I got a veggie one, Cory had a turkey with cranberry, and the girls shared a pb and j one. We were full and ready to find another adventure.

We came across this Boston Firemen's museum. It was right across the street from where we are lunch. It was full of old pictures, artifacts, helmets, badges, and history of their fire department. The girls got fire hats and Cory got a patch, it was cool. Retired guys take people around and talk about the history, some guys had some of their very own stuff there on display. Such tradition.

After that we broke off, Cory took Tay to the Boston Tea Party Museum and tour and the baby and I went to walk around the pier, watch the water, and play around. Cory said the tour was awesome, Tay even got to throw the tea into the sea!

After they were done we went to a huge mall they have in Boston. We shopped around and the girls got some things.

By the time we were done shopping we were ready for dinner! A couple days ago we went to a place called, Joe's. We loved it so much that we wanted to go back. Cory got crab cakes, I got a lobster roll, Tay got a NY steak, and the baby had a cheese quesadilla.

Cory and Tay have been obsessed with Nutella lately and we found a place that has Nutella Shakes! It was a great way to end our great day!
